Eau Thermale Avene wins Big... Allure best of Beauty

Eau Thermale Avène has once again been honored by Allure atAllure’s 2013 Best of Beauty Awards, the beauty industry’s most prestigious event recognizing the highest level of excellence in product performance and innovation. For the 17th annual Allure Beauty Awards, tens of thousands of products from the entire marketplace were rigorously tested. The editors of Allure, the highly influential Condé Nast publication that is the first and only magazine devoted to beauty, along with an illustrious panel of industry experts including dermatologists, makeup artists, hairstylists and cosmetic chemists selected 246 nominees as winners in 16 categories.

In the category of Big Breakthrough, which acknowledged  only 14 elite winners, Avène earned top honors for their Cleansing Foam and Mattifying Fluid, part of Avène’s Mattifying Collection newly launched in March of this year. The Mattifying Fluid is even named by three of Allure’s esteemed experts as the most impressive product of all the Breakthrough winners. In its second consecutive year of being recognized in the Best of Beauty Awards, Antirougeurs FORT Relief Concentrate for Chronic Redness has been named a winner in the category for Sensitive Skin. And walking away with the title of Best Rich Body Lotion was Avène’s NEW Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion.

And the winners are:

($20, 5.07 fl. oz.; $26, 1.69 fl. oz.)

The key to the NEW Cleansing Foam and NEW Mattifying Fluid’s mattifying action is patent-pending active ingredient Glutamic acid, which has been clinically proven to inhibit 5a-Reductase, the enzyme that triggers excess sebum production, by 43%.

The combined mattifying effect of the NEW Cleansing Foam and NEW Mattifying Fluid is proven and immediate. In an open study of men and women with combination to oily sensitive skin, over 93% of participants agreed that their skin was more matte immediately after using both products as directed. To ensure the ultimate in purity, safety and gentleness, both remarkable formulas are hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and paraben-free, and are infused with our signature Avène Thermal Spring Water to soothe and soften skin.

Avène Antirougeurs FORT Relief Concentrate for Chronic Redness ($46, 1.01 fl. oz.)—exclusive to physicians—is an advanced spot treatment formulated with medical-grade, saponin-enriched Ruscus Extract that targets redness by acting directly on blood vessels. Clinically proven to provide anti-inflammatory benefits and help improve microcirculation, it reduces the appearance of small blood vessels and decreases facial flushes. Avène Thermal Spring Water enhances the hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic formula with soothing, skin-softening benefits. Also fragrance- and paraben-free.

While luxuriously rich and intensely moisturizing, the hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, paraben-free body lotion with soothing Avène Thermal Spring Water is non-greasy, transforming dry, taut, flaky skin into beautifully smooth, supple skin. In fact, an Aster study of 32 women with dry to very dry skin on the body shows that the formula reduces dryness by 71% after 21 days of applying the body lotion twice daily. A nourishing lipid base merges the Avène Cold Cream formula with a blend of moisturizing Safflower oil, Coconut Oil and Sesame oil. Calming Allantoin oil relieves irritation while it provides regenerative properties to help renew smooth, healthy skin.

All winning products are now eligible for the covetedAllure Best of Beauty seal, the beauty equivalent of the Gold Oscar, recognized by industry insiders and consumers alike as a sign of the product’s excellence. About Avène: The heritage of dermo-cosmetic brand Eau Thermale Avène dates back over 260 years to the discovery of the curative properties in thermal water. Originating as rain, the water filters through the Cévennes Mountains absorbing precious minerals and trace elements for 40 years until it reaches the mouth of the ancient Sainte-Odile spring. The modern age of Avène began in 1975 when Pierre Fabre, the now second-largest, independent pharmaceutical company in France, acquired the spring and its surrounding land. Since then, over 300 stringent biological, pharmacological and clinical studies on the thermal water have been conducted by Pierre Fabre and independent researchers to substantiate the skin healing and soothing benefits. Low in mineral content, rich in softening silica and bacteriologically pure, it is ideal for the treatment of skin conditions like atopic dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis. The Avène Dermatological Hydrotherapy Center, based on these properties and the legacy of the first thermal establishment built there in 1743, welcomes up to 2,800 patients a year to its state-of-the-art medical facility to treat skin conditions in adults and children. Launched in 1990 the Eau Thermale Avène skincare brand was created to capture these same healing benefits to soothe sensitive skins worldwide.
